Stretch marks are faint scars, usually on the thigh, stomach, or butt area, that are often found on many women of all ages. Men can also gain stretch marks. They can be caused by pregnancy or puberty, and also by body building and gaining large muscles, though the latter is more rare.
Stretch marks begin as a purplish, darker color in appearance, and are indented in the skin. However, over time, the stretch marks fade away, getting much lighter in color to blend in more with your natural skin tone, and becoming more even with your skin, and less indented. Sometimes, these stretch marks can fade away and disappear completely.
Many people are annoyed by their stretch marks and don’t want to have them, especially in the Summer months, and bikini season. There are many things you can do to alleviate the appearance of your stretch marks. Here is a step by step process.
1. Dry Skin Brushing
Many dermatologists and skin specialists recommend starting off your morning by practicing dry skin brushing. Using a natural bristle exfoliator, gently stroke your dry skin with the brush, towards your heart. Start with the legs, moving up to the thighs, buttocks, and stomach. Dry brushing exfoliates your skin, allowing the dead skin cells that lie on your top layer to flake off, and let the young new cells come through. However, it is unknown whether many of these creams claiming to make your marks disappear actually work. Many people believe creams can work wonders, while others believe that creams don’t help at all. Every body is different and will react differently to various creams. 4. Skin Procedures
Several skin procedures can greatly help improve the appearance of your stretch marks. Microdermabrasion procedures gently work to remove the dead skin cells on the top layer of your skin. This causes the skin to be “filed down” over time, reducing the stretch marks much more quickly. You can also undergo laser procedures. 6. Wait it Out
