Wouldn’t it be nice to have glossy long eyelashes and not have to bother with mascara? Not only do beautiful eyelashes draw attention to the beauty of the eye, they also draw it away from crows feet and other fine lines. Many salons offer eyelash tinting as an alternative to mascara.

But the truth is eyelash tinting does not give the eyes the oomph that other eye makeup does and it is illegal in many states including New York.

The best candidate for eyelash tinting is someone who has very pale lashes and wants to darken them.

Eyelash tinting has been around for many years. Back in the thirties, the use of coal tar and other permanent dyes on the eyelashes resulted in a number of injuries including blindness and at least one death. In the late thirties the FDA banned the use of regular hair dyes on the eyelashes though some salons still offer this service (illegally).

Today, most salons that offer eyelash tinting services use vegetable dyes which last about 3 to 6 weeks. Although many eyelash tinting procedures have been done, it is not without it’s risks. Allergic reaction to the eyelash tint which may include redness and swelling and damage to the eye are possibilities. But many of these procedures are done annually with no problems.

If you are considering eyelash tinting, you will want to make sure that eyelash tinting is legal in your state. Make sure you have a well qualified technician and you may want to get a patch test prior to having the procedure done. In addition, if you have very sensitive eyes or an eye infection, you will want to avoid eyelash tinting.

Eyelash tinting cost can vary greatly from one salon to another with prices ranging from $10 to $30.

It is important is that your expectations are realistic. Eyelash tint will make your eyelashes darker. Tints come in colors like black, brown and dark blues. So it can darken your eyelash tips and cover gray, but it does not contain thickeners or lash enhancers. So though you will have darker lashes, it will not give you the volume that a volume boosting mascara like the very top rated, Trish McEvoy High Volume Mascara will. And it will not help you grow beautiful long lashes like Idol Lash.

Though eyelash tint kits for eyelash tinting at home are available such as the Roux Eyelash Tint Kit, eyes are very precious. Unless you are experienced at eyelash tinting it is best to have this procedure done at a professional salon.

Why not try growing longer, thicker lashes at home and using mascara for that wow factor? New technology has produced eyelash enhancers that really work! Click here to read my review on Idol Lash

Wrinkles Under Eyes? Grow Eyelashes with Lilash

Grow Eyelashes - LiLash

If you have wrinkles under eyes and are using an anti wrinkle cream you are on your way to less crinkles and fine lines. But you can enhance the look of smoother skin and a more beautiful eye area if you grow eyelashes.

A thick luxuriant fringe of lashes will detract from the wrinkles at the corner of your eyes and the bags under your eyes. Long eyelashes will frame the eye and put the focus front and center instead of on the sides and underneath the eye where aging shows.

Eyelash enhancers work by conditioning the lash area. This makes lashes healthier. Lashes become fuller, grow faster and in some cases become longer. Genetically our lashes only grow to a certain length but with the deep conditioning from an eyelash enhancer like Lilash, eyelashes that break off because they are brittle will be able to reach their potential. Eyelashes in general will look longer because they fuller and thicker – more luxuriant.

Currently there is an FDA approved eyelash enhancer on the market. This product is available by prescription only. However, some users have reported side effects including headaches. The company also says blue eyes may turn brown. And it is expensive running about $100 a tube.

The eyelash enhancer Lilash is available online without a prescription. It runs about $140 for a full 5 month supply so it is very cost effective and comes with a 90 day guarantee.

If you have wrinkles under eyes and decide to try any eyelash stimulator remember to give it time. It takes about 4 to 6 weeks to see results and you must be consistent to keep up the results. Application is easy so it takes just a few minutes to get that beautiful look. Make it part of your beauty regime. Tip – Lilash also makes a brow enhancer for thinning brows.
